കാൻസർ ചികിത്സയിൽ മുന്നേറുന്ന കേരളം

Kerala has crossed yet another milestone in cancer treatment. For the first time in the government sector in Kerala, Pressurized Intraperitoneal Aerosol Chemotherapy (PIPAC) has been administered to a patient with ovarian cancer at the Malabar Cancer Centre. This is one of the most advanced cancer treatment methods available today.

The Health Minister stated through his Facebook page that this is a modern treatment given in the advanced stages of cancer. This type of chemotherapy can be administered in areas where cancer has spread within the abdominal cavity. Only a few government hospitals in India currently have this treatment facility. The Minister also noted that the cost of treatment here is only one-third of that in private hospitals.

കാൻസർ ചികിത്സയിൽ മറ്റൊരു നാഴികകല്ലുകൂടി കടന്ന് കേരളം. അണ്ഡാശയത്തിൽ കാൻസറുള്ള രോഗിയിൽ കേരളത്തിൽ ആദ്യമായി സർക്കാർ മേഖലയിൽ പ്രഷറൈസ്ഡ് ഇൻട്രാപെരിറ്റോണിയൽ എയറോസോൾ കീമോതെറാപ്പി മലബാർ കാൻസർ സെന്ററിൽ നൽകി. ഇത് കാൻസറിന്റെ അത്യാധുനിക ചികിത്സകളിൽ ഒന്നാണ്. രോഗത്തിന്റെ അഡ്വാൻസ്ഡ് സ്റ്റേജിൽ നൽകുന്ന ആധുനികമായിട്ടുള്ള ചികിത്സയാണിതെന്ന് ആരോഗ്യമന്ത്രി തന്റെ ഫേസ്ബുക് പേജിലൂടെ വ്യക്തമാക്കി. വയറിനകത്ത് കാൻസർ വ്യാപിക്കുന്ന സ്ഥലങ്ങളിൽ ഇത്തരത്തിലുള്ള കീമോതെറാപ്പി ചെയ്യാവുന്നതാണ്. ഇന്ത്യയിൽ തന്നെ അപൂർവം സർക്കാർ കേന്ദ്രങ്ങളിൽ മാത്രമേ ഈ ചികിത്സാ സംവിധാനമുള്ളൂ. സ്വകാര്യ ആശുപത്രിയേക്കാൾ മൂന്നിൽ ഒന്ന് ചികിത്സാ ചെലവ് മാത്രമേ ഇവിടെ ആവുകയുള്ളൂ എന്നും മന്ത്രി വ്യക്തമാക്കി.
