കേരളത്തിൽ വീണ്ടും നിപ്പ വൈറസ് ബാധ സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചതോടെ ആരോഗ്യവകുപ്പ് സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് ജാഗ്രത ശക്തമാക്കി. കോഴിക്കോട് സ്വദേശിയായ ഒരാളുടെ പ്രാഥമിക പരിശോധനയിൽ നിപ്പ വൈറസ് സാന്നിധ്യം കണ്ടെത്തിയതിനെ തുടർന്നാണ് അടിയന്തര പ്രതിരോധ നടപടികൾ ആരംഭിച്ചത്. രോഗിയുമായി സമ്പർക്കത്തിൽ വന്നവരെ കണ്ടെത്തി നിരീക്ഷണത്തിലാക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള നടപടികൾ പുരോഗമിക്കുകയാണെന്ന് ആരോഗ്യവകുപ്പ് അറിയിച്ചു.
അതേസമയം, പൊതുജനങ്ങൾ ആശങ്കപ്പെടേണ്ട സാഹചര്യമില്ലെന്നും സ്ഥിതിഗതികൾ പൂർണമായും ആരോഗ്യവകുപ്പിന്റെ നിയന്ത്രണത്തിലാണെന്നും അധികൃതർ വ്യക്തമാക്കി. മുൻകാലങ്ങളിൽ നിപ്പ വ്യാപനം ഫലപ്രദമായി നിയന്ത്രിച്ച അനുഭവത്തിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ എല്ലാ പ്രതിരോധ സംവിധാനങ്ങളും സജ്ജമാണെന്നും ആരോഗ്യവകുപ്പ് അറിയിച്ചു.
Nipah virus spreads mainly through:
🦇 Fruit bats (flying foxes) – the natural carriers of the virus. Humans can become infected by consuming fruits or drinks contaminated by bat saliva, urine, or droppings.
🤝 Person-to-person transmission – close contact with an infected person’s body fluids, such as saliva, respiratory secretions, urine, or blood.
🐷 Infected animals – pigs have been known to transmit Nipah virus to humans in some outbreaks, especially in countries like Malaysia. However, in Kerala, fruit bats are considered the primary source.
