A baby diagnosed with the extremely rare condition called “Fetus in Fetu” underwent a successful surgery at Amrita Hospital in Kochi. This condition occurs when an underdeveloped twin embryo becomes enclosed within the body of a normal fetus during the early stages of pregnancy. Only one in 500,000 births worldwide records this rare anomaly. The unusual growth was first detected during a prenatal scan of a woman from Ernakulam. After the baby was born, detailed examinations confirmed the presence of non-viable fetal remnants inside the abdomen. In the surgery performed on the two-month-old girl, 48.7 grams of fetal tissue was successfully removed. After the two-hour-long procedure, hospital authorities stated that the baby is recovering well and her health condition is improving steadily.
വളരെ അപൂർവമായി കണ്ടുവരുന്ന ‘ഫീറ്റസ് ഇൻ ഫീറ്റു രോഗാവസ്ഥ കണ്ടെത്തിയ കുഞ്ഞിന് കൊച്ചി അമൃത ആശുപത്രിയിൽ വിജയകരമായ ശസ്ത്രക്രിയ നടത്തി. ജനനത്തിന്റെ ആദ്യഘട്ടങ്ങളിൽ സാധാരണ ഭ്രൂണത്തിന്റെ ശരീരത്തിനുള്ളിൽ ദുർവികസിതമായ മറ്റൊരു ഇരട്ട ഭ്രൂണം അടങ്ങിയിരിക്കുമ്പോഴാണ് ഈ അവസ്ഥ രൂപം കൊള്ളുന്നത്. ലോകത്ത് 5 ലക്ഷം ജനനങ്ങളിൽ ഒരു കേസിൽ മാത്രമാണ് ഈ അപൂർവത രേഖപ്പെടുത്തുന്നത്. എറണാകുളം സ്വദേശിനിയിൽ നടത്തിയ ഗർഭകാല സ്കാനിംഗിലാണ് ഈ അസാധാരണ വളർച്ച ആദ്യം കണ്ടെത്തിയത്. കുഞ്ഞ് ജനിച്ചതിന് ശേഷം നടത്തിയ വിശദമായ പരിശോധനയിൽ വയറ്റിനുള്ളിൽ ജീവൻ ഇല്ലാത്ത ഭ്രൂണാവശിഷ്ടം നിലനിൽക്കുന്നുവെന്ന് സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചു. വെറും രണ്ട് മാസം പ്രായത്തിലുള്ള പെൺകുഞ്ഞിന് നടത്തിയ ശസ്ത്രക്രിയയിൽ 48.7 ഗ്രാം ഭാരം വരുന്ന ഭ്രൂണാവശിഷ്ടരം വിജയകരമായി നീക്കം ചെയ്തു. കദേശം രണ്ട് മണിക്കൂർ നീണ്ടുനിന്ന ശസ്ത്രക്രിയക്കു ശേഷം കുഞ്ഞിന്റെ ആരോഗ്യനില മികച്ച രീതിയിൽ സുഖം പ്രാപിച്ചുവരുകയാണെന്ന് ആശുപത്രി അധികൃതർ വ്യക്തമാക്കി
