Free HPV vaccination will be initiated for Plus One and Plus Two girl students as part of cervical cancer prevention, said Health Minister Veena George. Cervical cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting women. Experts state that the HPV vaccine is most effective between the ages of 9 and 14, but it can be administered up to the age of 26. Cervical cancer is preventable through vaccination. The Minister added that the state is undertaking major efforts to achieve a cancer-free Kerala. A Cancer Care Grid has been established to coordinate diagnosis and treatment. As part of cancer prevention, over 1.7 million people have undergone screening under the public campaign “Aarogyam Anandam Akattam Arbutham” (Health is Happiness, Let’s Eliminate Cancer), the Minister said.
സൗജന്യ സെർവിക്കൽ കാൻസർ പ്രതിരോധത്തിനായി പ്ലസ് വൺ, പ്ലസ് ടു വിദ്യാർഥിനികൾക്ക് എച്ച്പിവി വാക്സിനേഷൻ ആരംഭിക്കുമെന്ന് ആരോഗ്യമന്ത്രി വീണാ ജോർജ്. സ്ത്രീകളെ ഏറ്റവും അധികം ബാധിക്കുന്ന കാൻസറുകളിലൊന്നാണ് സെർവിക്കൽ കാൻസർ. 9 മുതൽ 14 വയസുവരെയാണ് എച്ച്പിവി വാക്സിൻ ഏറ്റവും ഫലപ്രദം എന്നാൽ 26 വയസ്സുവരെ എച്ച്പിവി വാക്സിൻ നൽകാവുന്നതാണ് എന്നും വിദക്തർ പറയുന്നു. വാക്സിൻ കൊണ്ട് പ്രതിരോധിക്കാൻ സാധിക്കുന്നതാണ് സെർവിക്കൽ കാൻസർ. കാൻസർ മുക്ത കേരളം എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യം കൈവരിക്കാനായി സംസ്ഥാനം വലിയ പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളാണ് നടത്തി വരുന്നത് എന്നും മന്ത്രി കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്തു. കാൻസർ കെയർ ഗ്രിഡ് രൂപീകരിച്ച് രോഗനിർണയവും ചികിത്സയും ഏകോപിപ്പിച്ചു. കാൻസർ പ്രതിരോധത്തിന്റെ ഭാഗമായി ‘ആരോഗ്യം ആനന്ദം അകറ്റാം അർബുദം’ ജനകീയ കാൻസർ പ്രതിരോധ ക്യാമ്പയിനിൽ 17 ലക്ഷത്തിലധികം പേർ സ്ക്രീനിംഗ് നടത്തിയതായും മന്ത്രി വ്യക്തമാക്കി.
