The license of a hospital has been revoked following a case in which a young woman fell into critical condition after undergoing abdominal fat removal surgery. The action was taken due to the hospital’s failure to comply with the health department’s regulations.
The license was cancelled on Monday, shortly after the medical board’s report was released. Although the board did not find medical negligence, the ethics committee headed by the DMO rejected the report. It has been decided to forward the follow-up report to the State Apex Committee of the health department for further review.
The incident dates back to February 22, when the woman underwent a liposuction surgery. Due to subsequent complications, she lost nine fingers—both from her hands and legs. Although she survived a life-threatening condition, she remains in intensive care at a private hospital.
