ജില്ലയിൽ മുണ്ടിനീര് വ്യാപിക്കുന്നതായി റിപ്പോർട്ട്

Reports indicate that mumps is spreading among school children in the state. The disease, which spread in the southern regions of Alappuzha district during the June–July months, is now moving towards the northern regions as well.
When the disease spreads, school closure remains the only preventive measure available to the health department. There is no vaccination drive in place. If further delays occur, the infection is likely to spread to more school children. Since this is an examination period, children will face severe difficulties.

The widespread outbreak of mumps began after the discontinuation of free vaccine distribution. Earlier, vaccines were administered to prevent measles, mumps, and rubella. However, from 2017 onwards, the central government limited it to measles and rubella vaccines only. After this change, as mumps cases increased, the state had started providing the vaccine free of cost, but this too was later stopped.

Health workers warn that the situation could worsen if the state does not take the initiative to provide vaccination. However, the state is not willing to bear the vaccination expenses and has instead approached the central government seeking free vaccines.

സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് സ്കൂൾ കുട്ടികളിൽ മുണ്ടിനീരു വ്യാപിക്കുന്നതായി റിപ്പോർട്ട് . കഴിഞ്ഞ ജൂൺ-ജൂലായ് മാസങ്ങളിലായി ആലപ്പുഴ ജില്ലയുടെ തെക്കൻ മേഖലയിൽ പടർന്നുപിടിച്ച രോഗം വടക്കൻ മേഖലയിലേക്കും പടരുന്നു. രോഗം പടരുമ്പോൾ സ്കൂൾ അടയ്ക്കൽ മാത്രമാണ് ആരോഗ്യവകുപ്പിനു മുന്നിലുള്ള പ്രതിരോധ മാർഗം. വാക്സിനേഷന്‌ നടപടിയുണ്ടായിട്ടില്ല. ഇനിയും വൈകിയാൽ കൂടുതൽ സ്കൂൾ കുട്ടികളിലേക്കു രോഗം പടരും. പരീക്ഷക്കാലമായതിനാൽ കുട്ടികൾക്ക് ഇതേറെ ദുരിതമാകും.സൗജന്യ വാക്സിൻവിതരണം നിലച്ചതോടെയാണു മുണ്ടിനീര് വ്യാപകമായിത്തുടങ്ങിയത്. മീസിൽസ്, മുണ്ടിനീര്, റുബെല്ല എന്നിവ പ്രതിരോധിക്കാനായി നേരത്തേ വാക്സിൻ നൽകിയിരുന്നു. 2017 മുതൽ കേന്ദ്രം അത് മീസീൽസ്, റുബെല്ലാ വാക്സിൻ മാത്രമാക്കി. ഇതിനുശേഷം മുണ്ടിനീരു വ്യാപകമായതോടെ സംസ്ഥാനം വാക്സിൻ സൗജന്യമായി നൽകിയിരുന്നു. പിന്നീടതു നിലച്ചു. സംസ്ഥാനം മുൻകൈയെടുത്ത് വാക്സിൻ നൽകിയില്ലെങ്കിൽ സ്ഥിതി രൂക്ഷമാകുമെന്നാണ് ആരോഗ്യപ്രവർത്തകർ പറയുന്നത്. എന്നാൽ, വാക്സിനേഷനുള്ള ചെലവു വഹിക്കാൻ സംസ്ഥാനം തയ്യാറായിട്ടില്ല. പകരം സൗജന്യ വാക്സിനായി കേന്ദ്രത്തെ സമീപിച്ചിരിക്കുകയാണ്.
