കാര്‍ ടി-സെല്‍ തെറാപ്പി ആസ്റ്റര്‍ മിംസില്‍ CAR T-cell therapy, has been launched at Aster MIMS
നൂതന കാന്‍സര്‍ ചികിത്സാ രീതിയായ കാര്‍ ടി-സെല്‍ തെറാപ്പി ആസ്റ്റര്‍ മിംസില്‍ ആരംഭിച്ചു. ആസ്റ്റര്‍ ഇന്റര്‍നാഷണല്‍ ഇന്‍സ്‌റിറ്റിയൂട്ട് ഓഫ് ഓങ്കോളജി വിഭാഗത്തില്‍ നടക്കുന്ന കാര്‍ ടി-സെല്‍ യൂണിറ്റിന്റെയും നവീകരിച്ച പിഎംആര്‍ വിഭാഗത്തിന്റെയും ഉദ്ഘാടനം മെയ് 1-ന് എംപി ഷാഫി പറമ്പില്‍ നിര്‍വഹിക്കും.
മനുഷ്യശരീരത്തിലെ രോഗപ്രതിരോധം ഉറപ്പാക്കുന്ന ഒരു തരം വെളുത്ത രക്താണുക്കളാണ് ടി സെല്ലുകള്‍.
കാര്‍ ടി-സെല്‍ ചികിത്സാ രീതിയില്‍ ഈ ലിംഫോസൈറ്റുകളെ രോഗിയില്‍ നിന്നും ശേഖരിച്ച ശേഷം അവയെ പ്രത്യേകം സജ്ജീകരിച്ച ലബോറട്ടറിയില്‍ വെച്ച് ജനിതക മാറ്റം നടത്തും. ജനിതകമാറ്റം വരുത്തിയ കോശങ്ങള്‍ രോഗിയില്‍ തിരികെ പ്രവേശിപ്പിക്കുന്നതോടെ ഇവ ആരോഗ്യമുള്ള കോശങ്ങളെ നശിപ്പിക്കാതെ കാന്‍സര്‍ കോശങ്ങളെ തിരഞ്ഞ് പിടിച്ച് നശിപ്പിക്കും. ട്യൂമറിനെതിരായ ഏറ്റവും ഫലപ്രദമായ തെറാപ്പികളില്‍ ഒന്നാണിതെന്നും, രക്താര്‍ബുദ ചികിത്സയിലും മറ്റും ഏറെ ഫലപ്രദമായ ചികിത്സയാണെന്നും ക്ലിനിക്കല്‍ ഹെമറ്റോളജിസ്റ്റ് & ബോണ്‍ മാരോ ട്രാന്‍സ്പ്ലാന്റ് ഫിസിഷന്‍ ഡോ. സുദീപ് വി. വ്യക്തമാക്കി. കാര്‍ ടി-സെല്‍ തെറാപ്പി ഒറ്റത്തവണ ചികിത്സയാണ്. മാത്രമല്ല മറ്റു കാന്‍സര്‍ ചികിത്സകളെ അപേക്ഷിച്ച് പാര്‍ശ്വഫലങ്ങള്‍ കുറവായിരിക്കുംമെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടി.

A new cancer treatment method, CAR T-cell therapy, has been launched at Aster MIMS.
The inauguration of the CAR T-cell Unit and the renovated PMR Department at the Aster International Institute of Oncology will be conducted by MP Shafi Parambil on May 1.
T-cells are a type of white blood cells that help strengthen the body’s immune system.
In CAR T-cell therapy, lymphocytes (T-cells) are collected from the patient, genetically modified in a specially equipped laboratory, and then reintroduced into the patient’s body.
Once reintroduced, these genetically engineered cells specifically target and destroy cancer cells without harming healthy cells.
This is considered one of the most effective therapies against tumors and has shown great success in the treatment of blood cancers, according to Clinical Hematologist and Bone Marrow Transplant Physician Dr. Sudeep V.
CAR T-cell therapy is a one-time treatment and, compared to other cancer treatments, has fewer side effects, he pointed out.
Additionally, Luqman Ponnamath, COO of Aster MIMS, stated that this treatment not only helps reduce the patient’s symptoms and improve overall health but also significantly reduces the duration of hospital stays compared to conventional treatments.
