A hospital is being established in memory of Dr. Vandana Das, who was stabbed to death by an assailant while on duty. The Dr. Vandana Das Memorial Hospital will start functioning by the end of next month at Madhuraveli in Kaduthuruthy, her hometown. Dr. Vandana’s parents, K.G. Mohandas and Vasanthakumari, said that owning a hospital to provide free treatment to poor patients was their daughter’s dream. This is the second hospital they are setting up in her memory. The first one was established at Thrikunnapuzha in Alappuzha, Vasanthakumari’s native place. Dr. Vandana Das was tragically killed on May 10, 2023, while on duty at the Kottarakkara hospital, after being stabbed by an attacker.
ജോലിക്കിടെ അക്രമിയുടെ കുത്തേറ്റ് മരിച്ച ഡോ. വന്ദന ദാസിന്റെ പേരിൽ ജന്മാനാടായ കടുത്തുരുത്തിയിൽ ആശുപത്രി ഉയരുന്നു. കടുത്തുരുത്തി മധുരവേലിയിൽ ഡോ. വന്ദന ദാസ് മെമ്മോറിയൽ ആശുപത്രി അടുത്ത മാസം അവസാനത്തോടെ പ്രവർത്തനം ആരംഭിക്കും. പാവപ്പെട്ട രോഗികൾക്ക് സൗജന്യ ചികിത്സ ഒരുക്കാൻ സ്വന്തമായി ഒരു ആശുപത്രി എന്നത് മകളുടെ സ്വപ്‌നമായിരുന്നുവെന്ന് ഡോ. വന്ദനയുടെ മാതാപിതാക്കളായ കെ.ജി മോഹൻദാസും വസന്തകുമാരിയും പറയുന്നു. മകളുടെ ഓർമയ്ക്കായി ഇരുവരും ആരംഭിക്കുന്ന രണ്ടാമത്തെ ആശുപത്രി ആണിത്. വസന്തകുമാരിയുടെ ജന്മാനാടായ ആലപ്പുഴ തൃക്കുന്നപ്പുഴയിൽ വന്ദനയുടെ ഓർമയ്ക്കായി ആദ്യ ആശുപത്രി ഇരുവരും ആരംഭിച്ചിരുന്നു. 2023 മെയ് പത്തിനാണ് കൊട്ടാരക്കര ആശുപത്രിയിൽ ഡ്യൂട്ടിക്കിടെ അക്രമിയുടെ കുത്തേറ്റ് ഡോ. വന്ദന ദാസ് കൊല്ലപ്പെട്ടത്.
