സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ മുഴുവന്‍ ജനങ്ങള്‍ക്കും പേവിഷബാധക്കെതിരായ പ്രതിരോധ കുത്തിവെപ്പ് | KGMOA Demands Statewide Rabies Vaccination Program
In response to the increasing number of rabies-related deaths in Kerala, the Kerala Government Medical Officers’ Association (KGMOA) has called for a universal anti-rabies vaccination program across the state.
They emphasized that rabies is 100% fatal once symptoms begin, and globally it claims around 59,000 lives every year. Of these, 18,000 to 20,000 deaths occur in India, with 38–40% of them being children.
Although annual rabies-related deaths in Kerala have reduced to about 20–25, KGMOA insists that a sustainable, long-term preventive model is crucial. The association proposes five key measures, including:
A statewide rabies vaccination plan for all citizens.
Formation of a task force of experts to implement the project phase-wise.
KGMOA President Dr. Sinil P. K. and General Secretary Dr. Jobin G. Joseph said such a program could set a national model for rabies prevention.
Meanwhile, Kerala State Human Rights Commission Chairperson Justice Alexander Thomas has ordered a medical investigation into recent rabies deaths, to be led by the Director of Medical Education.

സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് പേവിഷബാധയേറ്റുള്ള മരണങ്ങള്‍ വര്‍ധിക്കുന്ന സാഹചര്യത്തില്‍ പേവിഷബാധക്കെതിരായ സാര്‍വത്രിക പ്രതിരോധ കുത്തിവെപ്പ് പ്രോഗ്രാം ആരംഭിക്കണമെന്ന് കേരള ഗവണ്‍മെന്റ് മെഡിക്കല്‍ ഓഫീസേഴ്‌സ് അസോസിയേഷന്‍ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു.
പേവിഷബാധയുടെ ലക്ഷണങ്ങള്‍ കണ്ടുതുടങ്ങിയാല്‍ അത് 100% മരണകാരണമാവുന്നു എന്നും, ഓരോ വര്‍ഷവും ലോകത്ത് ഏകദേശം 59,000 ജീവനുകള്‍ പേവിഷബാധ മൂലം അപഹരിക്കപ്പെടുന്നതായും, ഈ മരണങ്ങളില്‍ 18,000 മുതല്‍ 20,000 ഇന്ത്യയിലാണെന്നും, അതില്‍ 38-40% കുട്ടികളാണെന്നും KGMOA സൂചിപ്പിച്ചു. കേരളത്തില്‍ പേവിഷബാധ മരണങ്ങള്‍ പ്രതിവര്‍ഷം 20-25 ആയി കുറഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ടെങ്കിലും, ദീര്‍ഘകാലാടിസ്ഥാനത്തിലുള്ളതും സുസ്ഥിരവുമായ ഒരു പ്രതിരോധ മാതൃക നാം സ്വീകരിക്കേണ്ടത് അത്യാവശ്യമാണെന്നും സംഘടന ചുണ്ടിക്കാട്ടുന്നു. സംസ്ഥാനത്തെ മുഴുവന്‍ ജനങ്ങള്‍ക്കും വാക്‌സിനേഷന്‍ നല്‍കുന്നതിനുള്ള വ്യക്തമായ രൂപരേഖയോടെ, ഘട്ടം ഘട്ടമായുള്ള പദ്ധതി രൂപകല്‍പ്പന ചെയ്യാന്‍ വിദഗ്ധരുടെ ഒരു ടാസ്‌ക് ഫോഴ്സ് രൂപീകരിക്കുക തുടങ്ങിയ അഞ്ച് മാര്‍ഗനിര്‍ദ്ദേശങ്ങളാണ് സംഘടന മുന്നോട്ടുവയ്ക്കുന്നത്.
ഒരു സംസ്ഥാനതല പ്രീ-എക്‌സ്‌പോഷര്‍ റാബിസ് വാക്‌സിനേഷന്‍ സംരംഭത്തിന് തുടക്കം കുറിക്കുന്നതിലൂടെ, കേരളത്തിന് ഒരിക്കല്‍ കൂടി ഒരു ദേശീയ മാതൃക സൃഷ്ടിക്കാനാകുമെന്നും, കെ.ജി.എം.ഒ.എ പ്രസിഡന്റ് സിനില്‍ പി.കെ, ജനറല്‍ സെക്രട്ടറി ഡോ. ജോബിന്‍ ജി. ജോസഫ് എന്നിവര്‍ വാര്‍ത്താ കുറിപ്പിലൂടെ പ്രതികരിച്ചു. അതേസമയം, പേവിഷബാധയെ തുടര്‍ന്ന് സമീപ ദിവസങ്ങളിലുണ്ടായ മരണങ്ങളുടെ കാരണം അന്വേഷിക്കാന്‍ മെഡിക്കല്‍ വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ ഡയറക്ടറുടെ നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍ ഒരു മെഡിക്കല്‍ സംഘത്തെ നിയോഗിക്കണമെന്ന് മനുഷ്യാവകാശ കമ്മീഷന്‍ ചെയര്‍പേഴ്‌സണ്‍ ജസ്റ്റിസ് അലക്‌സാണ്ടര്‍ തോമസ് ഉത്തരവിട്ടു.
