More than a hundred passengers and crew members on a luxury cruise ship traveling around the world have been reported infected with norovirus. The outbreak occurred on the cruise ship AIDAdiva, which set out on a 133-day journey with nearly 2,000 passengers and 640 crew members.
According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the situation is being monitored, and diarrhea and vomiting are the main symptoms reported among those infected. The affected individuals have been quarantined, and efforts to disinfect the ship have begun. The first case was reported on November 30, during the ship’s journey from Miami to Cozumel. The report also notes that a significant number of norovirus cases were reported in the U.S. last December.
