After a bike accident, Nedumbassery native Biljith, who was declared brain-dead, will now live on through seven people. Biljith’s liver, kidneys, heart, eyes, and small intestine are being donated to seven recipients. His heart will be transplanted to 13-year-old Avani from Anchal, Kollam. Avani had been undergoing treatment for three years due to cardiac myopathy, which caused her heart to function poorly. Doctors had concluded that a heart transplant was the only solution. The transplant surgery will be performed at Lisie Hospital, Ernakulam, under the leadership of Dr. Jose Periyappuram. Avani and her family have arrived in Ernakulam for the surgery.
Biljith was a first-year Mechanical Engineering student at Kalady Adi Shankara Engineering College. His parents are Linta and Biju, and his brother is Bival.
